Philodendron Bipennifolium ‘Aurea Variegata’
🌿 Philodendron bipennifolium ‘Aurea Variegata’
(Horsehead Philodendron – Golden Variegated Form)
The Philodendron bipennifolium ‘Aurea Variegata’ is a rare, climbing philodendron known for its dramatic, lobed “horsehead” leaves splashed with vibrant lime, chartreuse, and golden-yellow variegation. As the plant matures, the leaves elongate and develop deeper lobes, giving it an exotic, sculptural look. This fast-growing climber is a collector favorite for brightening up any rare aroid display.
🪴 You will receive a plant similar in size and variegation to the one shown in the photo. Each plant is carefully selected for healthy growth and bold color contrast.
⚠️ Note on Natural Variation, Algae & Growing Conditions
Variegation varies from leaf to leaf, ranging from marbled yellow to bold sectoral aurea patches. All plants are hand-selected to match the quality and size of the listing photos.
Shipped in a Fluval and perlite mix, which promotes excellent root health and acclimation success. Algae may be present on the substrate due to high humidity—this is completely normal and harmless.
🌡️ These plants have been grown in 70–75°F temperatures and 70–75% humidity. Please gradually acclimate to typical household conditions over 5–7 days.
🛠️ Care Instructions
Light:
Bright, indirect light is best to maintain vibrant aurea variegation. Too little light may cause the yellow tones to fade.
Water:
Keep in a self-watering pot or above a shallow nutrient-enriched water reservoir when using Fluval/perlite. Allow the mix to stay moist but never soggy.
Humidity:
Prefers 60–75% humidity. Acclimate slowly if moving to drier indoor air.
Temperature:
Keep between 65–85°F. Protect from cold drafts and avoid temps below 60°F.
Soil (if repotting):
Use a chunky aroid mix when repotting (coco coir, perlite, orchid bark).
Fertilizer:
Apply a balanced liquid fertilizer at ¼–½ strength monthly during active growth.
Growth Habit:
This is a climbing philodendron—provide a moss pole or support for larger, mature leaves.
